Hemostatic Granules
Uncontrolled hemorrhage from gun shot wounds, stab wounds and blast injuries can lead to death within minutes. Hemostatic granules have been shown to stop bleeding in seconds on a broad variety of wounds and have been proven effective in the presence of common hypothermic and anticogulant conditions.
Two Grades of Hemostatic Granules
There are two grades of hemostatic granules, which are standard Grade (chitosan granules) and Premium Grade(CM-chitosan granules). When the granules makes contact with fliud/blood, the granules absorbs it, swells and then forms an adhesive gel which then sticks to the tissue around the injury.
Three forms of Hemostatic Granules
Granules—— Hemostatic granules can be used on a broad variety of wounds as they conform well to open irregular wounds and help seek the source of bleeding.
Granules(Applicator)—— Hemostatic granules are pre-loaded into an applicator for ease of use and can be used for moderate to severe bleeding caused by penetrating wounds and shrapnel from blasts.
Granules(Xquick Plug)—— Hemostatic granules are pre-loaded into a soluble membrane. The membrane is made of chitosan and cm-chitosan. When insert the Xquick Plug into the wound, the membrane outside dissolves in contact with blood, and then the granules are released. Compared to Applicator, Xquick Plug is more convenient to use on battlefield for penetrating wounds and shrapnel from blasts.
Hemostatic Gauze
Compression general gauze to stop bleeding has always been the basic principle followed in first aid at the scene. Cotton dressings or triangle towels made of pure cotton are the most widely used materials to stop bleeding from war wounds.
The ChitoGuard™ Hemostatic Gauze is made of durable viscose. Granules of highly purified chitosan are applied to the both sides of the material to control moderate to severe bleeding. The liquid absorption effect of gauze and the hemostatic effect of chitosan are well combined. It can work in hypthermic conditions and anti-coagulant conditions.
Two forms of Hemostatic Gauze
Gauze(Z-fold)—— The Gauze(Z-fold) is coated on both sides with granules to control moderate to severe bleeding. Compared with chitosan granules and ordinary gauze, this gauze has better absorption and hemostasis. It can be used on a broad variety of wounds. This format allows easy application and removal.
Gauze(Pad)—— The Gauze(Pad) is a small size of gauze(Z-fold), which is coated on both sides with granules. It is designed for family emergencies, such as abrasions injuries, fall injuries, scald wounds, superficial wounds and so on.
